5G Wireless uses the millimetre-wave of more spectrum resources for fronthaul to access more mobile devices, increase bandwidth and reduce latency. However, the shorter wavelength of radio features higher path loss and short-range coverage. So, 5G fronthaul demands more base stations for distribution.

The present topology of 5G Fronthaul mainly chooses fiber direct connection, passive WDM or active OTN. Unlike WDM or OTN, Fiber direct connection chooses either single or dual fiber to interconnect AAU and DU, as a sample system easy to deploy, is the best choice for ISP to start the 5G transition.

Top-Trans TBD-SFP28-LH27/33 is a transceiver designed to create a single fiber connection for 5G Fronthaul. It uses the bidirectional signal at 1270 and 1330nm waves to create the fibre link up to 20km. It is fully compliant with 25G SFP28 BIDI MSA and CPRI/eCPRI standards, using BIDI DFB and PIN Receivers. It supports the protocol of CRRI Option 10 (24.33 Gbps), CPRI Option 9 (12.165 Gbps), CPRI Option 8 (10.138 Gbps), and CPRI Option 7 (9.830 Gbps).
